ECO-ACTIVE LEADER accreditation (Jersey, Channel Islands)
Sustainability and environmental awareness are words that we have all heard over
the past few years, but behind the growing concern of global warming, what are companies
really doing to combat climate change and promote positive environmental change?
AB Glass (Doors & Windows) Ltd are a benchmark of how businesses can make major
strides in the reduction of waste and emissions with the introduction of EMS (Environmental
Management Systems), staff awareness, training and resource efficiency.
After the success experienced by AB Glass in multiple environmental management business
awards during the 2008-2009 period, continual improvements have been made within
the company, sourcing further solutions to its environmental impacts, also as part
of the EMS employed by AB Glass we pursued ECO-ACTIVE LEADER accreditation. This
accreditation places AB Glass amongst an elite few companies dedicated to environmentally
aware business practises. The ECO-ACTIVE LEADER accreditation is hailed throughout
Jersey and the Channel Islands business community as the pinnacle of environmental
achievement.
As part of ECO-ACTIVE LEADER accreditation we are pleased to offer our support to
any Jersey or Channel Island based companies who wish to develop environmental best
practise. We at AB Glass are fully committed to the environment and will continue
to develop our environmental processes for the future.

Jersey, Channel Islands
During February 2010 works began at the Carlton Hotel Redevelopment located in Jersey,
Channel Islands with AB Glass securing the Window and Door element of works for
Jersey based main contractor Larsen Building Contractors. As with all Jersey and
Channel Island projects specifying the right product is essential to the success
of the project. AB Glass and Larsen Building Contractors specified Kawneer for the
window and door extrusions due the proximity of the site to the sea.
At AB Glass we are all delighted to be working in Jersey and the Channel islands
and we look forward to building long term relationships with the communities of
Jersey.

Green Dragon Level 5 accreditation
After the success experienced by AB Glass in both the 2008 Wales and Swansea environmental
business awards continual improvements have been made within the company, sourcing
further solutions to its environmental impacts. Also as part of the EMS employed
by AB Glass we pursued Green Dragon Level 5 accreditation which was successfully
achieved during December 2009. This places AB Glass amongst only seven other Welsh
organisations to attain this standard; other companies that have accomplished this
milestone include The Welsh Assembly Government and the Countryside Council for
Wales. This standard is hailed throughout the construction industry as the pinnacle
of environmental achievement.
On receiving the accreditation, AB Glass General Manager Mr. Nigel Harvey issued
the following statement; "First of all I would like to pass on the senior managements
appreciation to our HSE Manager Mr. Gavin Evans TEC IOSH for the efforts that he
has made in achieving this award, this is a great accolade both for the team and
the company as a whole. Although maintaining this standard will be a challenge I
strongly believe that our staff are more than capable and have the potential to
exceed all the requirements. We at AB Glass are fully committed to the environment
and will continue to develop our environmental processes for the future."
