AB Glass win substantial contract for restoration project

AB Glass, the Swansea-based manufacturing and installation company, has won a substantial contract working on a historic church in Chipping Sodbury.

The six figure contract will see AB Glass install new windows, doors and curtain walling at the church, which is being refurbished.

The Baptist Church is a prominent landmark based on the High Street in Chipping Sodbury. The work is now entering a second phase, which will see specialist builders Helm Construction construct a two storey link between the church sanctuary, at the rear, and the church hall on the High Street.

Phase one of the project saw the original church redeveloped into four new flats.

Alan Brayley, Managing Director of AB Glass, said:

“We are delighted that we have been asked to provide the new windows, doors and curtain walling for the Baptist church redevelopment programme. The church has been standing since Oliver Cromwell’s day and I am pleased that it is being merged into the developing high street.

“Projects like this play an important part in bringing very old and historic buildings back into everyday use. But it is naturally important that they are done in a sensitive way that preserves their history and architecture and allows future generations to enjoy these buildings for many years to come.”
