AB Glass, the Swansea-based manufacturing and installation company, which won a substantial contract in May this year worth approximately £1.2 million to aid work on a new ‘super school’ in Baglan, Port Talbot, has begun work on the new school.
The contract is for a package that includes new windows, doors and Curtain Walling at the £40 million development. The main contractor is Bouygues UK.
The school is being built on the Western Avenue playing fields opposite the Seaway Parade, Sandfields.
The new school will cater for children aged three to 16 and will replace Cwrt Sart Community School, Glanafan Comprehensive School, Sandfields Comprehensive School and Traethmelyn Primary School.
It will accommodate 1100 secondary school pupils, 300 primary school pupils and 100 specialist places for pupils with additional learning needs will be available.
Jeremy Morgan Technical Director of AB Glass, said:
“We have started on site, and it is going really well. The team are on target to complete our part of the contract on time and the school is still set to open next September. The team are working really hard and they have done a fantastic job.”
