AB Glass, the Swansea-based aluminium manufacturing and installation company, has secured a substantial contract to manufacture and install new aluminium windows, doors and curtain walling at New Bridewell, Bristol for new student accommodation.
The project will see the redevelopment of the old New Bridewell police headquarters being replaced with student accommodation to fit nearly 500 rooms. The main contractor for the site is Watkin Jones. The value of the contract to AB Glass is approximately £2,250,000.
Staff at AB Glass are currently working on the design phase of the development, before they are due to start on site in January 2016. The New Bridewell site is just one part of a scheme that will also see the redevelopment of Nelson Street in Central Bristol, which combined with New Bridewell will see student accommodation that holds 848 rooms.
Nigel Harvey, operations director at AB Glass, said:
“I would like to thank Watkin Jones for appointing AB Glass as a sub-contractor on this redevelopment. It is going to be a mammoth project across the whole redevelopment and it is great that AB Glass will be a part of redeveloping some very well-known sites in the Bristol area.”
