AB Glass starts 2016 with new project

AB Glass, the Swansea-based aluminium manufacturing and installation company, has begun work on an extensive student accommodation building project currently under way in New Bridewell, Bristol.

The company has been contracted to manufacture and install new aluminium windows, doors and curtain walling at the site.

The project will see the redevelopment of the old New Bridewell police headquarters with student accommodation to fit nearly 500 rooms. The main contractor for the site is Watkin Jones. The value of the contract to AB Glass is approximately £2,250,000.

Staff at AB Glass have completed the design phase of the project and are now on site to fit the new aluminium windows, doors and curtain walling. The New Bridewell site is just one part of a scheme that will see the redevelopment of Nelson Street in Central Bristol, which combined with New Bridewell will see student accommodation that holds 848 rooms.

Nigel Harvey, operations director at AB Glass, said:

“I would like to thank Watkin Jones for appointing AB Glass as a sub-contractor on this redevelopment. It is going to be a mammoth project across the whole redevelopment and it is great that AB Glass will be a part of redeveloping a very well-known sites in the Bristol area.”
