Following the growth of the bi-folding door market over the past few years, an aluminium manufacturing and installation company claims this trend is set to continue into 2017, with the demand for quality bi-fold doors only increasing.
AB Glass, which celebrated its 25th anniversary last month (November 2016), has noted a significant rise in requests for aluminium bi-fold doors on numerous projects the company has been involved with over the past two years. These include Howell’s School, Cardiff; Coleston Hall, Bristol; St Anne’s Primary School, Western-super-Mare; and the Marine Towers Observatory, Swansea.
The company suggests bi-fold doors’ popularity is a result of the contemporary design, light and durability these light-weight aluminium doors offer.
AB Glass’ experience of the booming bi-fold door market rings true with research undertaken by AMA Research. According to its Bi-fold Doors Market Report, current forecasts indicate steady to good growth into the medium-term with the bi-fold doors market growing by around 7 percent per annum to 2020.
The research also showed in the commercial office sector, bi-folds have increased in use as interior doors, as they offer natural light and can be tailored to enable rooms to be easily expanded or contracted.
Alan Brayley, managing director of AB Glass, says the company has had to make provisions for the continued growth in demand for bi-fold doors as the company heads into 2017. Brayley commented:
“The bi-folding door market is extremely healthy. Both the residential and commercial sectors are using them for the modern look they give, but as they are made with aluminium, customers are getting a very high quality product that last for decades. We have installed them on projects such as private house builds, schools and for commercial properties looking to merge indoor and outdoor spaces.
“We have had to put measures in place to ensure we are meeting demand for bi-fold doors, including employing a further two permanent members of staff within the last four months due increased sales. We believe the market for bi-fold doors will only grow as we enter the New Year.”
