AB Glass, an aluminium manufacturing and installation company, has been awarded a contract by Kier Construction to complete works at a development in Swansea for the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD).
AB Glass, based in Swansea, has been enlisted by Kier to undertake the installation of AA100 curtain wall screens, AA540 windows and doors, and AA190 doors. The leading property, residential, construction and services company has been appointed by the university to deliver the first phase of its new £300 million Swansea Waterfront Innovation Quarter, located in the city’s SA1 area.
The contract is worth approximately £1.4 million to AB Glass, which was recently announced as winner of the Business of the Year award and the Manufacturing Business of the Year award at the Swansea Bay Business Awards 2017.
Design work by AB Glass commenced during February 2017, with the start date for works on the new waterside campus planned for early May.
AB Glass’ involvement in the UWTSD project demonstrates the company’s continuing relationship with Kier, with work on later phases of the university campus project being a prospect for AB Glass.
Alan Brayley, managing director at AB Glass, said:
“This new university campus adds to what is a vibrant area of Swansea and we are very proud to be a part of it through our partnership with Kier. We have worked with the firm on other education projects, including the Callywith College project in Cornwall most recently.
