It is with a heavy heart – but also a lot more gratitude and well wishes – that we will say goodbye to Sharron Newton, our Financial Controller and Director, who is retiring from the business after 18 years with AB Glass.
Sharron joined the AB Glass team in 2002, bringing with her a wealth of previous sector experience. Her final day in the business will be Friday November 13, when she retires to Spain and a life in the sun.
Sharron was handling the day-to-day management of the office and was the main point of contact for company and project finance. A highly skilled operative, Sharron was also committed and responsible for maintaining the high standards expected of BSI 9001 and for maintaining our Green Dragon Level 5 environmental accreditation, which we value so much.
Her responsibilities will be taken on through an internal promotion. Lisa Walker, one of our accounts administrators, will step up to manage the company’s financial requirements on a day-to-day basis as well as the accreditations required on an annual basis.
During her time with the company, Sharron has safely navigated AB Glass through 16 years of incredible growth and diversification. She has managed the company through a financial crash and recession and, more recently, the challenges presented by COVID-19 and the lockdowns we are still experiencing.
Alan Brayley, our Managing Director, said: “I speak for everyone associated with AB Glass when I say that we a very sad to see such a valued team member leave the business. We owe her an incredible debt as she has successfully navigated the company through both a period of growth but also some very specific challenges.
“We also appreciate that all good things come to an end and we hope Sharron and Barry her husband enjoys their well-earned retirement in Spain. Equally, this is a fantastic opportunity for Lisa to step up and take her career to a new level by assuming additional responsibilities in the company.”
