Here at AB Glass, we’re proud to say that the site of the former Guardian Exchange building in Bristol, we’ve been working on for Kier Construction, is nearing completion.
The three-acre site, developed by Royal Asset Management and now called Glassfields due to its former use as the site of the original ‘Bristol Blue’ glassworks, has been divided into 4 plots with our AB Glass team working on plots 2 and 4.
Originally contracted to work on plot 2 – a 21,000m² office building, which has been designed to provide flexible working space – our team provided such a high standard of service we were appointed to carry out the work on plot 4, which began in November 2019.
The scope of work we have carried out on the two plots included manufacturing, supplying and installation of Aluminium Curtain Walling, windows and doors, with our Access Control Division installing the main revolving door, sliding doors and automatic swing doors – all to BSEN16005 certification. The contract for the combined 2 plot project was worth approximately £1.8m.
During the scheme, our suppliers and partners included Kawneer Aluminium, Ravensby Glass, Geze Automatic Swing Doors, WD Glass and ASSA Abloy Revolving and Swing Doors.
Despite some logistical challenges due to the very tight, city centre site location, and the inevitable restrictions placed on us as a result of COVID-19, we are especially proud of the way our AB Glass team was able to stay on target for the project’s completion, whilst maintaining our usual high level of professional excellence.
Alan Brayley, our managing director, said:
“We are very happy to have provided our manufacturing and installation services to both plots on this innovative and attractive Glassfields project. The fact that the work we carried out on plot 2 was to such a high standard it secured our involvement on plot 4 is a testament to our team and the high levels of service and excellence we adhere to as a company.”
