A guide to aluminium windows

Are you considering which type of window will best fit the project you are working on? Factoring in systems, styles and durability are all important in making that final decision. This guide aims to clarify the different types of aluminium windows available and the benefits of each.

Fixed pane windows

In some areas of commercial buildings, windows don’t need to be opened. This is the case in stairwells or in high rise buildings. Fixed pane windows are a great option for that modern, inside, outside feel. Letting in light whilst not obscuring any views.

Additionally, this style of window is lower maintenance as they have no hardware to clean or replace.

Casement windows

Also referred to as ‘sash windows’ these windows swing out from the outer frame. The main feature of these is that they are protective against the rain and wind. When placed on the most weather hit side of a building, they stop rain from coming in whilst still allowing air to flow through. Perfect for rainy, summer days. Serving well in smaller rooms such as offices.

Sliding windows

This style of window is great if you’re either trying to save space or don’t have enough outdoor space to have a sash window but still want a flow of air. They vary in number of panes from between two and four. The overall finish of these windows is seamless and practical.

Tilt and turn windows

These windows can be opened in two ways. They can either be opened at an angle to the top or opened from the side, allowing for more air flow and access to the outside. Perfect for easy cleaning.

In the same way as aluminium doors, all our windows are available in all different finishes. Don’t hesitate to contact AB Glass with any commercial enquiries.
