We are thrilled to have achieved a certificate of assurance from Cyber Essentials.
Data protection has become an issue that all businesses need to address in order to ensure that all personal information is safe from cyber-attacks and data leaks, and also to ensure that business information stays confidential.
Customer information including addresses and payment details must be protected, and our recent Cyber Essentials certification shows our continued effort to do so.
Cyber Essentials is a government-backed scheme that focuses on helping businesses prevent the most common forms of cyber-attack. According to the National Cyber Security Centre, cyber-attacks come in many shapes and sizes and are most commonly very basic in nature. This is important as failure to protect against these basic attacks may bring unwanted attention from cyber criminals.
Some of the most common cyber-attacks include:
- phishing – emails sent to large numbers of people asking for sensitive information (such as bank details) or encouraging them to visit a fake website
- water holing – fake websites or compromised legitimate ones, set up in order to exploit visiting users
- ransomware – disseminating disk encrypting extortion malware
- scanning – wide swathes of the Internet attacked at random
The Cyber Essentials scheme shows businesses how to protect against these potential risks. Our recent certification, shows our continued commitment to not only protect all personal information.
Our managing director, Alan Brayley, said:
“The importance of cyber security cannot be understated with so much information being exchanged online. We take pride in the fact that we are proactive with these matters and are always looking ahead. The Cyber Essentials certification can give anyone who deals with AB Glass reassurance that your data is safe with us, and we have the training and preventative measures in place to reinforce that.”
