abg Windows and Doors Specialists, an aluminium manufacturing and installation company, has started work at the new Eastern High School site in Cardiff, following the company being awarded a contract to provide design, manufacturing and installation services for the new school.

The contract has been awarded to the Swansea-based company by Willmott Dixon, one of the UK’s biggest privately owned construction and property services companies.

Following completion of the design and manufacture phases, abg Windows and Doors Specialists is now currently carrying out the installation of AA100 curtain wall screens, AA540 windows and AA190 doors, and AA100 SSG glass box curved glazing, at the school.

The contract is worth in excess of £500,000 to abg Windows and Doors Specialists for the works at the £26 million ‘super school’ based in Trowbridge, Cardiff. Eastern High School is designed to create a learning environment which offers a smooth transition from school to college and will encourage more students to access post 16 education and training.

The Eastern High School project will assist abg Windows and Doors Specialists to reinforce its working relationships in Wales with its key clients and enhance its reputation for delivering substantial educational projects.

Alan Brayley, managing director at abg Windows and Doors Specialists, said: “Continuing our relationship with Willmott Dixon is very rewarding for the company and we are pleased to be involved with the development of this new state-of-the-art secondary school.

“Eastern High School will add to the work we do within the education sector and marks our second ‘super-school’ project the company has contributed to. We look forward to seeing the school opening for students in the East Cardiff area to enjoy later this year.”
